A study in the Journal of Cosmetic and Laser Therapy shows how effective radiofrequency can be for cellulite. Trends toward improvement were shown in all patients, with minimal side effects. The heat from the radiofrequency energy also causes existing collagen fibers to contract and tighten the skin above. The radiofrequency also makes the treatment feel pleasantly warm, like a hot stone massage.
What Happens in Your Skin During a V-Form Treatment
As the handpiece moves across the treatment area, the suction draws skin and fat into the applicator while radiofrequency warms the tissue from within. The temperature stays between 102°F and 107°F, similar to the temperature of a hot tub, with penetration deep enough to affect the dermal and fat layers while still being safe for the surface. Fibroblasts respond to this thermal energy by producing more collagen over the following weeks. The heat also causes fat cells to shrink as their contents are processed by the body.

We usually recommend six to eight sessions spaced about a week apart. If you have a larger treatment area you want us to focus on, or more pronounced cellulite, you may benefit from more visits. Each session will last around 30 to 45 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment area. It will take time to see your results. Expect to see your full improvements around three months after your final visit. Some people choose to come in for maintenance visits once or twice a year to keep the skin smooth.

Afterward, you can return to work and normal activities right away. Your skin may be pink for several hours and feel a little tender. Make sure to drink plenty of water to improve lymphatic drainage and help your body clear the released fat.
